The East of England LGA with support from Improvement East and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), are running a FREE two-day training event on Local Economic Development. It is aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of Economic Development Officers in the East of England, with a view to enabling Local Authorities to meet their post-SNR duties.
This is part of an Economic Development training programme, which is being delivered as part of Supporting Economic Development, the Economic Development Capacity Building Project.
Over the two-day session, the course will provide a comprehensive overview of theory and practice in Economic Development, as well as current Local Economic Development issues and policy directions, and will also examine developing local economic strategies.
Key outcomes from this training course include: -
- introduction to the theory and practice of economic development
- opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities of economic development with other practitioners in the region
- comprehensive overview of policy environment in the UK in relation to economic development and regeneration
- demonstrate the links between policy and delivery
The two-day training event is being delivered by CLES, the Centre for Local Economic Strategies. CLES is an independent think-doing organisation with charitable status, that undertakes a range of activities involving regeneration, local economic development and local governance.
Who should attend?
Local Authorities: Economic Development and Regeneration officers; other officers whose remit includes elements of Economic Development
