Better Outcomes for Older People
16/11/2009

- 15:30
Newmarket Racecourse, Millennium Suite
Increasing awareness of an ageing society has concentrated attention on meeting the challenges and opportunities presented by this key demographic change. Strategic planning and service delivery will need to take account of this change in the years ahead. Public sector organisations will be at the forefront of meeting these challenges and opportunities and solutions will be informed by effective and meaningful engagement with older people to understand their needs and ambitions.
Future East, the regions forum on ageing, presents a full day conference that aims to engage delegates with these challenges and opportunities.
Speakers from a range of organisations will:
- Increase knowledge and awareness of the ageing agenda and issues affecting older people;
- Focus the attention of the public sector within the East of England on the importance of taking into account the needs and ambitions of older people in their areas when planning partnerships and services;
- Highlight best practice in empowering and involving older people in decision-making;
- Place policy making and service delivery within the context of significant changes to the demographic of the regional and national population.
Delegates will also be able to choose from a range of workshops, focusing on meeting some of the challenges and opportunities of an ageing society (delegates will be able to choose which workshop they would like to attend on the day of the event).
There will also be a number of exhibitors at the conference showcasing their work with older people.
Who should attend:
- Local authorities (Chief Executives, Economic Development Leads, Older People's Champions, Directors of Adult Social Services and officers, Community Engagement Officers);
